Canine Wellness

Benefits of Canine Massage

Benefits of Canine Massage

In order to live a higher quality life, maintaining optimal wellness is key. Our canine companions give us so much unconditional love during their short time with us.  My goal is to help them live a longer and happier life.  The power of touch has a medicinal effect.  Massage, stretching and pressure point therapy can give you more quality time with your beloved pet.

Meet the Therapist

I have been an animal lover my entire life.  In 1997, I graduated with honors from Median School of Allied Health Careers veterinary assistant program.  Since graduation, I have spent my career in the pet care industry, working in small animal veterinary and emergency medicine. I became a certified Canine Myo-Manipulative Fuctional Massage Therapist in 2021 after witnessing first-hand the power of touch on canine health.

Touch was never meant to be a luxury. It is a basic need. It is an action that validates life and gives hope to both the receiver and the giver. The healing of touch is reciprocal.

Frequently Asked Questions

Please reach us at lovepawsitivity@gmail.com if you cannot find an answer to your question.

This technique refers to a specialized form of kneading and stretching your dog's soft tissue.  It's purpose is to focus on the prevention, management and treatment of movement and allied disorders that affect your dog.

Puppies to very senior dogs can all benefit from massage.  I will provide a specialized massage based on your dogs needs.  For example, puppies may be experiencing growing pains, adolescent dogs may have sore muscles due to rigorous activity, some dogs need relaxation and stress reduction and senior dogs may be suffering from stiff joints and arthritis.

I will provide a massage which uses strategic often intense pressure to manipulate soft tissues of the the body.  It's important that this type of massage be done by a professional.

I always begin my sessions developing a rapport with your dog.  I also use essential oils that promote calmness and lessen anxiety.  I gradually work from gentle massage to more in-depth pressure point therapy. Your dog may experience discomfort but I watch closely to ensure your dog is not in pain.

This varies from dog to dog depending on age and medical issues.  Your dog may develop soreness from the pressure point therapy during the massage but this normally dissipates within 24 hours.   You're likely to see your dog feeling more relaxed, walking with a more even gait and be more energetic.

Your dog may prefer everyday but it really depends on the needs of the dog.  I will give a recommendation after the first visit.  Most dogs benefit from bi-monthy or monthly visits.  Some dogs with advanced mobility issues may benefit from weekly visits for the first month then  decreased frequency once some mobility has returned.

Please call or text me directly.  I am available most weekdays but times vary depending on if I'm working out of Masaya Wellness or traveling to a pets home.
